The Time It Takes To Recover From A Shoulder Dislocation
This university brief was solely focused on the element of time. I created a visual representation of the time it took to recover from a shoulder dislocation, an injury which occurred at the start of the project.
I recorded data points that were then converted into differing tallying formats. Choosing the Cistercian data equations, they were converted into equal vectors and combined to create a typesetting and ultimately, a visual pattern.
The final sixteen injury milestones represented by the following ‘time symbols’ which became the primary focus of visual development - each symbol had its’ own point of recovery and deeper meaning; standing alone meant they would not be lost in a vast, repeating pattern.
A full day was spent on the physical creation of these designs. The importance of the symbols meant they would have to be large-scaled, using astroturf and colours to enforce the context of the injury. This helped to address the most-asked question when your injury comes up in everyday conversation: how did you do it?
